We’re looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Team Lead who is passionate about building great products and loves being part of a team, whilst enjoying the autonomous nature of working remotely.


You will:

  • Contribute to the codebase and manage a team of frontend and backend engineers.
  • Help your team achieve their goals, through creating a framework of responsibility and optimizing your team’s performance.
  • Help steer debates into quick decisions and communicate important team changes to the relevant audience through the appropriate channels.
  • Coach, mentor, and further develop your direct reports through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager on your team to drive team strategy and direction.
  • Work with other team leads across the department to make improvements to our processes and systems.
  • Report directly to your Tribe or Group lead and work with them on hiring and capacity planning.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working in software development and proven experience managing inclusive and cross-functional team in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge and practice working professionally with Python, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience applying and inspiring engineering discipline within the team to avoid over-engineering without impacting product quality.
  • Experience relying on business data and metrics to guide your workload.
  • Desire to work in a respectful, transparent, and collaborative work environment, following Hotjar’s company valuesculture and ways of working.
  • Must submit to a background check confidentially processed by our third-party.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for a team member in this role is from €80,000 to €105,000 annually, where the typical offer will fall in the range of €85,000 to €95,000.

Our approach to compensation

At Hotjar we do not factor in any differences in compensation based on where you are located. We believe everyone should be compensated based on the market value of their role and the impact the role brings to the company. We also don't believe in complicated bonus or equity schemes. Instead, our ranges are established after performing market research (London labor market), so that our team members can have a healthy and predictable income.

On average, our offers tend to fall within the first half the range published for the role. The specific compensation amount offered to a successful candidate will be based on the performance during the recruitment process, experience, skills, and knowledge.

Upon joining, the better a team member performs (in terms of execution, impact, and expertise) and the stronger their behavior is aligned with our core values, the higher they tend to move within a range. Team member’s’ compensation is reviewed yearly.
